About Rwanda
Today there are about 650 Mountain Gorillas left in the wild and there are only three countries where you can observe them; Uganda, Rwanda and the Congo. It is much easier to see the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda than any of these other countries.
All gorilla treks require hiking into mountainous terrain to visit the animals. Rwanda has the added advantage of being able to offer a variety of gorilla treks to suit each individuals fitness level. A daily permit fee to see the Mountain Gorilla costs $500
per person. Conservation efforts such as the Dian Fossey Foundation, International Gorilla Conservation Program, The Gorilla Fund and other related programs have helped in the efforts to save the gorillas from extinction. However the Mountain Gorilla is endangered and it is possible that we could be the last generation to see these magnificent animals.
A three day Mountain Gorilla trek in Rwanda is an ideal add on to the typical safari to Kenya or Tanzania.
